Internation Fibromyalgia Awareness Day
International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day - 12th May
May 12th has been designated as International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND) since 1992. The CIND illnesses include Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia (FM), Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS).
May 12th was chosen as it is the birthday of Florence Nightingale. She was believed to have suffered from ME/CFS/FM.
History of Fibromyalgia Awareness Day
The first National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day was observed in 1992 in honor of the birthday of Florence Nightingale after historical documentation was reviewed and suggested she suffered from symptoms similar to Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
On May 12th of each year, International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day events extend throughout the world and through the month of May in an effort to raise awareness and funds to help further support those with Fibromyalgia and/or other chronic pain illnesses.
How to celebrate Fibromyalgia Day
Awareness and funding are the keys to battling the enigma that is Fibromyalgia, and this day was created for just that.
On May 12th each year, observers of this day get together and take part in fundraising events, charity runs, tea parties – anything to get the conversation going.
Everyone can do this

Let us know if you have success and provide us with a link to anything that gets published. Also, please help us by sending us a sample of your contact letter so we can make a draft letter people can use next year.
